About Soochow University
Situated in the historical and picturesque city of Suzhou, a metropolis well reputed in the world for its classic gardens, Soochow University is a key university of “Project 211”, one of the first-batch universities of the “2011 Plan”, a member of "the Double First-Class" Initiative and a provincial key comprehensive university of Jiangsu Province jointly sponsored by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government. As its predecessor, Soochow University, established in 1900, spearheaded the Western-style education and incorporated the quintessence of Chinese and Western cultures, making it the first university in China run with a modern university disciplinary system.
Currently, twelve disciplinary fields are offered at Soochow University. The university’s 26 colleges/faculties are accommodating 27,136 full-time undergraduate students, 11,959 full-time postgraduate students, 1,676 part-time postgraduate students,1,788 full-time PhD students, 2,146 MD students and 2,207 overseas students from all backgrounds.

Qualification
1.Non-Chinese citizen with a valid foreign passport and be physically and mentally healthy.
2.Undergraduate applicants have to provide an academically excellent holder of high school diploma or its equivalent; And an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent when applying for a postgraduate program.
3.Applicants from non-English speaking countries should submit proof of English language proficiency.
Application Materials
1.The photocopy of passport, photo page and China visa page.
2.Diploma and certificate of highest education (notarized photocopy). An applicant who is a current student shall submit the certificate of expected graduation or student status.
3.Academic transcripts. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English shall be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
4.English language proficiency for those applicants whose mother tongue or official language is not English. IELTS score 6.0 or above; TOFEL 80 or above.
5.Physical examination report.
6.Non criminal record certificate.
7.Bank statement.
8.Passport sized photo of student within 6 months
9.Two recommendation letters in English by a professor/an associate professor for postgraduate program applicant.
10.A study or research plan written in English for postgraduate program applicant.
11.Other documents required by university.
