About WHU
Wuhan University (WHU) is a comprehensive and key national university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education. It is also one of the "211 Project" and "985 Project"universities with full support in the construction and development from the central and local government of China.
Since its establishment, Wuhan University has cultivated more than 300 thousand professional talents in various occupations, among whom there are over 100 members of the Chinese Academy of Science and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. They have made great contribution to the national construction and social advancement. The remarkable achievements of Wuhan University have won itself an extensive international reputation. In 1999, the world renowned journal Science listed Wuhan University as one of the most prominent institutions of higher education in China.
Burgeoning are the international exchanges and cooperation of Wuhan University in recent years. It has established cooperative relationship with more than 415 universities and research institutes in over 45 countries and regions. The University now has more than 50,000 students, including 29738 undergraduates, 26073 graduates and 2537 foreign students. The teaching staff consists of more than 3,700 teachers, including 2,700 or so professors and associate professors, 11 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 7 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 3 academicians of the international Eurasian Academy of Sciences, 10 well-known senior scholars of arts and social sciences, and 22 lead scientists of the National 973 Project.

Qualification
1.Applicants should be healthy and well-behaved, and have a foreign citizenship.
2.Applicants should have an undergraduate study background equivalent to that of the Chinese Bachelor’s degree.
3.Non-native English speakers, who apply for English-taught programs, should provide a score report of English Proficiency test (TOEFL 80+/ IELTS 5.5+). For applicants who cannot offer the above-mentioned standardized English test results, they will be required to participate in an additional oral or written English test organized by Wuhan University.
Application Materials
1.Photocopy of passport (photo page and China visa page).
2.Passport photo.
3.Scanned copy of bachelor’s degree certificate and transcript, original /notarized copy in English or Chinese. Those who have not graduated yet must provide a proof of education in current academic institution.
4.Personal statement and research plan over 800 words.
5.Two recommendation letters from scholars who have title of associate professor or higher.
6.Language proficiency certificate.
7.Physical examination form.
8.Supplementary documents required by the university.
