About NJU
Situated in the old capital city of Nanjing, Nanjing University (NJU) has a one-hundred-year-long history and enjoys high prestige. Faced with new, historical opportunities brought forth by the Reform and Opening-up, NJU as a key comprehensive university under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education has upgraded itself with good momentum of development in teaching, research and social service, ranking among China’s top universities in its teaching indexes and overall strength. In 1994, NJU was accredited as a key university receiving support by “211 Project.” In 1999, it became one of the first batch of high-level universities receiving support by “985 Project.” Since 2006, it has been under the joint construction by the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province.
At present, NJU has three campuses: Xianlin Campus, Gulou Campus and Pukou Campus. With 28 schools under the university’s direct supervision, the number of the students in 2016 is 32,999 in total, including 13,583 undergraduates, 10,865 master students, 5,335 doctoral students, and 3,216 full-time international students. The university boasts a faculty made up of the most accomplished scholars in China, a large number of outstanding disciplines and many important national and provincial research platforms.

Qualification
1.Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
2.Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or above and with an interest in the systematic and in-depth study of the Chinese society.
3.Applicants whose native language is not English should submit English test scores (minimal requirement: TOEFL 85; IELTS 6.0; Duolingo 100).
Application Materials
1.Photocopy of passport (photo page and China visa page).
2.Master’s degree applicants shall submit bachelor’s graduation certificate, degree diploma and transcript. Prospective diploma recipients shall submit a pre-graduation certificate issued by the university, and bring the official degree diploma for registration if admitted.
3.English language proficiency test(minimal requirement: TOEFL 85; IELTS 6.0; Duolingo 100).
4.Two letters of recommendation from professors in student’s academic area of study.
5.Personal statement/study plan. No less than 800 words, detailed proposal for study and research in China.
6.Physical examination form.
7.The foreign citizens of Chinese origin need to provide certain identity documents.
8.Those who apply to the School of Architecture and Urban Planning need to submit a portfolio of relevant works.
