Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, is the political, economical, cultural, financial, military and commercial center as well as the hub of national transportation and communication. Shenyang is also an important gateway of the country as well as the biggest city in the Northeastern region of China. The total area of Shenyang is 13,000 km2with an urban area of 3,495 km2. The permanent resident is about 8 millions.

Shenyang is located in the southern part of Northeast China. It consists of plains in the central part, mountains and hills in the southeastern part, while the Liaohe River, Hunhe River, and the Xiushuihe River run through the entire city. Shenyang features the continental temperate sub-humid climate and the temperature ranges from -29℃ to 36℃ in a year with the average temperature of 8.3℃. Because of the influence of monsoon, the rainfall is concentrated on a certain period. The temperature division is huge and there is a distinct division of the four seasons.

Shenyang is the largest railway, highway and air transportation hub of Northeast China. It is the home to the largest civil airport. The Shenyang Taoxian International Airport enjoys prior geographical location which is located at the center of the Shenyang economic zone and about 20 kilometers from downtown Shenyang. It is the largest aviation hub of the northeastern region, which is connecting to more than 50 domestic cities and 30 countries, such as Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Russia, Germany, Thailand, the United States, Canada, France, and Australia. The inter-city transportation is well developed which covers almost the whole city. There are two subway lines available in the city and the other lines are under construction.

Shenyang is an important industrial base as well as the well-known Chinese city in history and culture. There are world cultural heritages such as Shenyang Imperial Palace, Fu Mausoelum and Zhao Mausoleum. The main tourist spots are magic slope, Qipanshan Mountain Scenery Zone, Shenyang West Lake, Taiqing Temple, Xinle Relic, Cien Temple, South Mosque, Nanguan Church, The Sept. 18 historical Museum, Steam Locomotive Exhibition Hall, Museum of Marshal Zhang’s Residence, etc.

There are mainly 20 universities and 2 Military academies，such as Northeastern University、Liaoning University 、Shenyang Pharmaceutical University、Shenyang Agricultural University、Shenyang University of Technology、Shenyang Aerospace University and Shenyang Conservatory of Music
